The Words of My Soul on Your Scroll

Write down the words of my soul on your parchment scroll
And I will tell you of life born of Life — of beauty, not hell.

Life is conceived in Life by Life and so is new at every view;
Though everything fades away, Life stays supremely staid;
Though each creature returns to dust you may trust the One
Who reforms and fashions new birth with beatific passion.

Life is not only filled with pain, but also with joy and gain
If you listen to the trees whisper and see the flowers glisten
In the fresh rain that comes as gift to lift your sunken spirit
And rebirth in you life anew — treasure found by some few.

Life is the same wind that carries your name and all names,
Names of fame and of obscurity, and yes, life is full of vice
And avarice, but Life is filled with virtue and all that’s true
From ocean tides to the grand mountain that forever abides.

Life is active and wild; meek, tame, and mild; grime, slime
And crime; clean, serene, and dutiful routine — all of this
And so much more, but all the better for the one with mettle,
Who settles inside in peace to release the beauty of the soul.

Life flows on and on, an heavenly stream, cream of the gods;
Not a scheme, nor merely a dream, but the theme of the Lord
Of Life, who is Life, Love and Light shining bright as the sun,
And in this One all has ever just begun, and that for everyone.

Write down the words of my soul on your parchment scroll
As I have told you of life born of Life and the beauty of Life.

  1. “Write down the words of my soul…”, Wow, the poem certainly is heartfelt but refreshing even. Beauty a transparent theme.

  2. …I love the flow in this poem…this is exquisite writing…superlative! The way you use rhyme both within the sentence and not just at the end …slime, crime, clean serene…creates this wonderful lilt to your lines. Also,…the one with mettle Who settles inside in peace to release the beauty of the soul. Wow! I really appreciate the thought and craftsmanship that has gone into this poem. Bravo. 🙂
