Ever Near, Ever Dear

Being without you is soul-thirsting to death
And every breath is labored and unfavored,
But it’s the heart that’s shattered into parts,
Which lay on the floor like shattered glass
And the mind is battered by the gross loss,
But do you toss me away like an albatross?
You are always here by my side, ever near
And as dear to me as my very own life . . .
On some days, though, you feel so far away
Or it seems as if you are keeping me at bay
And you won’t say why and I try to reason
What feels like treason . . . but you’re here
And you hold me dearer than any treasure,
So I wait for the pleasure of your embrace,
Which cannot come too quickly or closely
As you thickly entwine your life with mine
. . .
Being without you is soul-thirsting to death
And every breath is labored and unfavored,
But do you toss me away like an albatross?
You are always here by my side, ever near
Ever near . . .
