Blessed be the New Year

Crawling out from under years of oppressive fears with many tears

To greet the dawning of a new day, to meet hope again without defeat,

Bidding thankful farewell to nightmarish hell and funeral bells,

In anticipation of participation in resurrected confidence in providence,

And very thankful to be alive and not deprived of honest promise

And opportunity to witness justice without impunity, without immunity,

But also love without restraint and charity without constraint . . .
