Sing Sweet Muses

Beauty speaks to beauty in musical harmony of muses

So sing to me sweet songs of serenity for heart’s security

And let me live in your love among lovely children carefree

Never ceasing relentless search for peace among peaceful people

With no dagger more dangerous that kind words and an open heart

So my departure is ne’er depressed in descending into such a scene

That I might live, too, in more than sight of paint on cold canvass

If you will but sing songs of serenity for such son as I am

Kiss the Lips of Cosmic Beauty

Dark day storm, bright light of stars, wings of angels

Herald your heroic march as you ride on the wind,

And do you show your beauty in ten billion forms

Throughout the Cosmos of eyes twinkling at night

In the form of stars staring down upon this earth ~

Gaia your honored home, sacred sanctuary of souls,

Where multitudes of gods approach you in dread

And in wonder-love, bowing to your mighty majesty,

Chanting hymns of deep adoration on ocean waves

Like undulating valleys and mountains momentous,

And yet who are you in such terrible terrifying form,

May this child inquire in trembling staggering, Lord,

And will you grant even a glimmer of understanding

Even to me, who can do no less than willingly worship

As the Universe delights and rejoices in your presence?

Radiant Beloved

You are more radiant than the sun, my Beloved,
And I have only begun to sing of your beauty
When my voice takes wing in duty to our love

You deserve more adoration than bright roses
And the light reflected off the mountain lake
At the sight of which I but tremble and quake

You are fairer than ten thousand doves, my Love,
And from above the stars finely shine upon you
So wonderful and true — their service your due

And the moon sings in tune with all the heavens
So leavened with your presence, O my Beloved,
So I dare throw off every care for I am yours . . .

Welcome to the City of Light

Welcome to the City of Light where bright rules the day
Every step along the way, where the soul can safely stay,
Where one can rest in an extraordinary nest of serenity,
Where there is plenty of love and peace that never cease
Here in this place, where the pace is slow and beautiful,
And joy dutiful to attend every step and the mind is kept
From all alarm as fear is dispersed by the light ever near
To the heart with no false start in any part of joyous day;
And where the night is absent of all fright and very calm,
Which is a healing balm to the soul … in the City of Light

Good Morning Life!

For the streams and hillocks and sweet dreams,
Fountains of water, and flowers and mountains
That rise, and blue skies, how could I despise?
For fireflies, moonlight at night, and the stars
That shine from afar; for my friends and family
So near and dear, where is there room for fear?
For perfect love from above casts out all fear!
For riverbanks and the quiet time, I give thanks;
For sunrays and bays and child’s play in the day,
And ballets and bouquets, how could I be hateful;
No! I am grateful … grateful for this and more…
And so I say, ‘Good Morning Life! Good Morning!’

Mystery of the Beloved

Undomesticated, wild and mysterious you are, my Beloved;
Unsophisticated yet wisdom incarnate, my brightest star;
Your eyes open to unfathomable depths and yet not bizarre
As they carry kindness and understanding, comprehending
Every detail of my life along this trail in the tale that is told,
And you are so very bold but gentle, warm and never cold;
And do you not remold me and make me new every morn?
Ah! I am born again and again and only begin now to know
That this is not mere show but truth unfolding like a flower
As with you all is possible and the impossible simply is not,
And you have bought my very soul with your spilling love
From above, saturating me in fine crimson wine of heaven,
And for all of this I love you with an undying love, Beloved!

Always in Your Love

As the stars shine brightly in the night sky,
So you shine in my heart and every part
Of my being, seeing me as I am in your love,
My heavenly Dove, spreading your wings
Around me to enfold me, bringing your joy,
Singing your sweet songs so melodically,
Rhythmically in tune with my very being
So that I am left kneeling in your presence
With the essence of all that I am and will be
In a perfect love from above earth and sky
That raises me high above into the heavens,
As the stars shine brightly in the night sky,
And you shine in my heart and every part
Of my being, seeing me as I am in your love
In your love – always in your love, my Dove

Such Beauty in the Dangerous Beautiful

Look up at the moon and soon you will be enthralled by her beauty,
But then imagine dying as you’re lying on her bed of cold rock . . .
Gaze upon the awesome magnificence of the lion at a safe distance,
But then consider being mauled in your insistence to draw near . . .
Mountains are majestic but also so often dangerously undomestic;
Ah! What is beautiful can be so bountiful and so very inspirational,
But dangerous to the venturous, killing those willing to draw near
To what they hold dear in that same beauty that demands no duty
To die for what they can eye safely from afar, like a star in the sky;
Some beauty is mostly ghostly and simply cannot be held closely
But only admired in an almost lonely manner like what is holy . . .
Be wise in what your eyes see and the sudden rise in your heart
To claim some prize that was never meant to be possessed by you;
Admiration and appreciation does not demand your possession;
Be discerning and ever learning to calm the burning in your heart

And the Darkness Has Not Overcome

Blot out the sun, erase the stars till there are none,
And pull the full moon from high in the night sky,
And let the starkest of darkness draw ever so nigh,
He would not overcome the light from your eyes,
So fiercely piercing and bright, brilliant to my sight,
And all the thick, pitch black would just roll back
Like an ancient scroll without taking his toll on me,
For though I be blind to all else, I would see you
Shining in all of your beauty . . .

In you there is no night
In you there is no blight
In you there is no fright
For you are bright
For you are light
You are my sight

You are the ever-rising dawn to whom I am drawn,
And how do I feel when you peel off the darkness?
Safe and secure in the allure of your beautiful eyes!

Your Sweet Voice

Your sweet word is the first heard in the early morning,
And your choice voice the last chord to be struck at night,
Though I might lie awake for the sake of listening to you;
Your melody is so true, carried by wind neath blue skies,
And try as I may I cannot find any finer sound
In all of this world into which I’ve been hurled,
And you delight in serenading me with light songs of joy
That arise from the depths of your golden heart of love
And rise above the cacophony of too-ordinary existence
With an innate insistence on making my own soul happy
Yes . . .
Your sweet word is the first heard in the early morning,
And your choice voice the last chord to be struck at night
