To Chance and Dance

The world sometimes is too sharply defined, too dogmatically refined

While people are often far too entrenched, thirst for power unquenched

Sometimes the church bell tolls for the death of a soul while digging the hole

And oftentimes the dirge is played for the living, far too unforgiving

While other play freely in liberty, never minding those in self-captivity

For we are always free to chance, to gayly prance, to wildly dance

Without apologies or remorse to the entrenched for our chosen course

By the Crimson Tree

By the crimson tree we are free to dance
On hallowed ground with joyous sound
Round and round on life’s new mound
Till we fall with laughter after first light
Of night when we rest beneath bowers
That tower above our heads as we make
Our beds for peaceful sleep ever so deep
Beneath crimson tree where we are free
On hallowed ground with joyous sound
Together as one with new life just begun

In the Dance of the Divine

In this helter-skelter life you have given me shelter,
Though my home is always with you, this is so true;
And I have no bank full of money, yet I am thankful
And though I could be so strangled by despondency
As to paralyze me, I realize that troubles of any size
Are never too great for you, but you offer me a prize
In your arms, safe from all harms,
And my head rests on your chest;
So I may not know the future, but I know you, Love,
And this is enough from above life’s sick cacophony;
There’s no agony constantly, monstrously haunting
Nor any dæmons taunting me as I sit by your Tree,
Where I am completely free and my spirit at liberty;
And how can I portray the intimacy we share,
Or is that something I even ought to lay bare?
It is no duty for me to bow to your beauty,
But pleasure alone, like long lost treasure!
I am yours and you are mine; our dance is divine!

Dancing With Ten Thousand Faces of Beauty

Amid ten thousand faces of Beauty, and I would choose but one,
One to love, to love me, and bath me in her golden sun;
But the curse laid upon me from my birth, when life had just begun
Forbids sweet charity for the lonely soul so lonely and alone…

So I’ll dance with ten thousand faces of Beauty
For the chance,
Chance to love but one in the wild dance we dance.

One River of Beauty, twisting and turning and ever flowing,
She never changes, despite harsh winds of hatred blowing;
Quickly now her waters, then slowly, dim yet also clear,
Translucent and wholesome yet sinister and oh-so austere….

So I’ll dance with ten thousand faces of Beauty
For the chance,
Chance to love but one in the wild dance we dance.

I would have her lift me up from the very pits of hell,
Awaken me from daemonic spell, ere tolls my funeral bell;
I would have her fly me high into her heavens above,
But below do I live with Beauty, and so starved of love…

So I’ll dance with ten thousand faces of Beauty
For the chance,
Chance to love but one in the wild dance we dance.

What curse laid upon me from my birth, when life had just begun
Forbids sweet charity for my lonely soul so lonely and alone?
Yet never with one to love me, and bath me in her golden sun,
With ten thousand faces of beauty, heart mended and one soul won…

So I’m dancing with these ten thousand faces of Beauty,
Still chancing,
Chancing to love but one in the wild dance we’re dancing.

Halcyon: Romance Me to New Life

As my soul wanders thru numinous grove
Pondering my role and high goal in this life,
You move like liquid crystal so wistfully
And mystically, calling me past artificial
Existence to something more beneficial,
Beyond superficial reality and all banality;
You bid me to enter into an halcyon day,
Luxuriant and peaceful, deep and blissful,
And so I turn to you to unbind my spirit,
Unblind my eyes, and find myself renewed
Into the real me I was always meant to be
. . .
And so I take a chance and dance
In the expanse you freely enhance
As you romance this child in the wild

The Color Green

rose-color-greenFields of green in clean souls
Find life meaning, no clinging
To the old and the bitter cold,
So we are told in barren hold.
Rise up and run into the sun;
What is holding you back, what
Do you lack in the color green?
Life is waiting, even in clouds
And rain, despite all the pain;
It grows, it whispers, it calls;

So stand tall against the wind;
Don’t bend and break; dance!
Prance, jump, dance in green;

You’re alive; be alive and live!

Dance With Me This Day . . . And Forever

Dance the dance of life with me in all of its uncertainties,
Dance thru the woods and hills, homes and universities,
Prance like a fawn, whirl ‘n twirl to your heart’s delight
In the bright light of crisp winter morn, born of gladness,
And let sorrow go as you show off your glee in being free;
Oh dance with me! I in you and you in me in sweet liberty!
Turn away from funeral pyre and dance round living fire,
Which will not burn as you turn round and round in joy;
Songs are sung from the heavens, songs of your belonging
To me so freely given to you wholly and true in our unity!
Dance the dance of life with me in all of its uncertainties,
And be not sad; good has come to your door,
Not any bad, with so much in store and more!
So take my hand, come my way to dance with me this day!

And All I Want To Do Is Dance With You (Recast)

They say I’ve lost all sense and sensibility,
That I’ve lost my way and all mental stability;
They say I’ve turned my back on what is right,
That I’ve strayed into darkness from the light…

But you are the bright light that shines in my night
And so all I want to do is prance and dance with you,
Holding me holding you holding me to music so true

They say I’ve tossed away all I’ve been taught,
That I’ve bought into lies with damnation fraught;
They say I’ve lost my mind and left them behind,
That I’m now a kind of fool good will never find…

But you are the bright light that shines in my night
And so all I want to do is prance and dance with you,
Holding me holding you holding me to music so true

They say I’m out of season, turning upon reason,
That I’m crawling in sprawling waste with lesions;
They say I’ve been devil-flecked and soul-wrecked,
That I’ve turned from the way and the light of day…

But you are the bright light that shines in my night
And so all I want to do is prance and dance with you,
Holding me holding you holding me to music so true

And can we dance?
Chance to prance?
Lance all doubt
About our trance?
Passion enhance
In manse of love
From trove above?
And can we glance
At wide expanse
On numinous romance?
Without looking askance at heaven because heaven
Brought you here today and gratefully forever to stay…

So really nearly all I want to do is prance and dance with you,
Holding me holding you, swirling, twirling to music fine and true,
To music so fine and true…

Get Messy and Dance!

Reality can be a real drag
While all the details nag
And folks wag the tongues
And you have to zig-zag
But you still lag behind
With ne’er reason to brag

Well, then . . . get messy and dance!
Whirl and twirl, prance and dance!
Just get downright goofy ‘n dance!

Just take that break
For your own sake
And have some cake
Along with the steak
And add a shake, too!
Just don’t you be blue!

Now, then . . . get messy and dance!
Whirl and twirl, prance and dance!
Just get downright goofy ‘n dance!

Yeah! Be messy ‘n goofy and dance!
