One Day, Same Day

far horizon
painting low sky reddish
dreams fade
as reality awakens again
eyes reopen

DAWN

covers fall
naked to the world
exposed to truth
pain and joy
suffering and laughter

MORNING

clock chimes
time flies as ever before
dressed
out the front door
success in existing

DAYTIME

rhyme of unreason
out of season
walking and talking
nonsense typical
light fades inviting shades

EVENTIDE

Note: Although I have no idea what to call this form (or kind) of poetry, I was inspired to give it a try by fellow-blogger, Tanya of postprodigal.com . Somehow, though, I don’t believe I’ve quite got the knack . . . at least, this piece has not reached her level! Let it never be said that I won’t try a new form (or schemata).

Evening Song

As the day is dying in the West,
And I lay my head down to rest,
O give me of your best to keep
As my eyes close in deep sleep

Rest me now in your arms
Far away from all alarms
And safe from evil harms
And all nefarious charms

As the sun dips o’er far horizon,
My heart enlighten ‘n brighten,
So there’ll be light in the night
And no awful monsters to fight

Rest me now in your arms
Far away from all alarms
And safe from evil harms
And all nefarious charms

Stay here as day bids farewell,
For with you sleep will be well,
How comforting I cannot tell
But you are my one sure citadel

Rest me now in your arms
Far away from all alarms
And safe from evil harms
And all nefarious charms

Rest me in your best tonight,
And all will be good and right,
And all will be good and right . . .
